Itinerary
You are warmly received on arrival. Thereafter, transfer to your hotel for a good night rest at Cycads Guest House (BB) or Protea hotel (FB)
After breakfast, we drive northwards through the countryside to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. In fact, the Ziwa Sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where you can see the Rhinos in the wild. Indeed, you learn about the breeding of Rhinos and their reintroduction to the natural habitat. Also, you get informed about the history of the sanctuary and the Rhinos in Uganda. In the afternoon, we take a nature walk through the expansive woodland and thickets to see the rhinos. The rhinos here are the white rhinos that are different from the black rhinos. Although they both look similar, the white Rhinos have a flat wide mouth that is used for grazing on grasses. On the other hand, the black Rhinos have a pointed lip that they use to pick fruits. Stay at Ziwa Guest House (BB) or Amuka Lodge (FB)
In the morning, we further drive northwards to Murchison Falls National Park. En route, we pass over the rift valley escarpment. The views of the wilderness in the park below are breathtaking. We continue and have a stop at the top of the spectacular Murchison falls. Here, the River Nile gushes through a small gorge. The water makes a roar as it falls deep in the rocks below. The river then flows on its long journey to Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea. We stay at Murchison River Lodge (BB) or Para Safari Lodge (FB). Both of these lodges overlook the river Nile and the park. Murchison Falls is particularly one of the must see parks of Uganda. The main attractions of the park are the wildlife, the water falls as well as the River Nile.
We make an early morning game drive to watch the predators and their prey. As dawn falls, hyenas return to their holes while the lions look for the best resting place. On the other hand, the leopards climb the trees where they lie during the day. We drives across the grasslands as we watch the elephant herds, giraffes, buffaloes and more. In the afternoon, we eventually do the relaxed boat trip along the Nile. On the boat, we sail upstream the river to the bottom of the water falls. Moreover, this trip is the ideal place to view wildlife and photograph bird species. Around the river shores and the little islands, the hippos and crocodiles observe the surroundings. Stay at Murchison River Lodge (BB) or Para Safari Lodge (FB)
This morning, we take a slow boat trip in the opposite direction of the Nile. Our next destination is the delta on Lake Albert, This is where the river finally pours after flowing through the park. Along the river, there are numerous animals and birds to see. Meanwhile, we have breakfast and relax on the boat. We then drive leisurely southwards to Budongo Forest. We check in at the lodge and shortly afterwards, we have lunch. For the rest of the day, we relax at the eco-lodge. The sights and sounds of the jungle that are next to the cottages are amazing. We spend the night at the Budongo eco-Lodge (FB) that is deep in the rain-forest.
After breakfast, we go chimpanzee tracking along the trails in the tranquil tropical forest. More so, the encounter with a chimpanzee family is on of the highlight of this safari. As a matter of fact, Budongo is Uganda’s biggest forest reserve with a habituated community of chimpanzees. Most importantly, the forest abounds with wildlife. Finally, we return to Kampala or Entebbe in the afternoon. END
