10 Days Uganda safari gorilla and chimpanzee tracking, pygmies and rafting on the Nile River- An amazing African expedition in Uganda.

On this 10 Days Uganda safari, you see the gorillas and chimpanzees in the African jungle, Pygmies of Uganda and go white water rafting on the great River Nile.

Day One: Airport EBB – Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

You are warmly received and transferred to the hotel for the overnight rest.

Overnight stay at: Lake Victoria View Guest House (BB) or The Boma (BB)

Day Two: From Entebbe to Kibale Forest  350 km, 6 hrs

After your breakfast, you are picked up from the hotel. We drive westwards through the undulating green hills with local farms and tea plantations to Fort Portal town. Have a stop for a lunch buffet of local food or a La Carte as you enjoy views of the Rwenzori mountains. We then visit a crater lake and transfer to the lodge to relax with sights and sounds of the forest. You may go for a walk around the lodge or in the forest for a night walk to see the night primates and other animals (optional).

Day Three: Chimpanzee tracking  in the forest and Bigodi Swamp

After an early breakfast, you start with a briefing of the activity and what to expect in the park. Enter the forest for the chimpanzee tracking. Walking at your own pace along the trails is easy in the company of excellent local guides. The guides make the walk interesting by explaining the life of the chimps, tree species, birds and other mammals that live in the forest.

Primates that you may see include the Gray Cheeked Mangabeys, Olive Baboon, Red-tailed Monkey, Red colobus and Black and White Colobus. You may as well encounter the Duikers and forest elephants. The highlight though is an encounter with the Chimpanzees associating in the trees or on the ground. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon if you are not tired, it is possible to have another walk in the Bigodi community swamp for birds and monkeys.

Day Four: From Kibale Forest to Bwindi Forest 270 km, 6hrs

After a sumptuous early breakfast, we drive to Bwindi Impenetrable. We pass through hilly villages with breath taking views. The drive is an excellent photography opportunity for beautiful mountainous landscapes. Bwindi Impenetrable is a unique montane forest, with many wildlife species including gorillas, chimps, forest elephants and rare birds. The Bwindi forest is one of the only 3 places in the world where you find the endangered Mountain Gorillas!!

Overnight stay: Gorilla Mist Camp (FB) or the Mahogany Springs (FB)

Day Five: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Forest National Park

Have breakfast and move to the briefing point before entering the forest in search of the gorillas. The time you will take looking for them is unpredictable. However, it ranges between 1-6 hours depending on where they spent the night and their movements.

The forest trails go through steep areas making it tiresome. The excitement of meeting these huge primates is a life time memory. They may come really close and touch you or even babies jump on you-but keep calm!!! After the tracking, you return to the lodge to relax. Later you may go for entertainment in the cultural dances of the surrounding communities or enjoy a sun downer community walk.

Day Six: From Bwindi Forest to Kisoro ( Mgahinga National Park) 130 km, 3 hrs

Have breakfast and relaxing, drive south through the forest, tea plantations, terraced local farms and Mountains. Along the way, there are several picturesque places to stop for photos. We transfer to Kisoro, the last frontier town between Uganda, Rwanda and the Congo. Relax with views of the border mountains.

Overnight stay: Travellers Rest Hotel (FB) or the Chameleon Hill Lodge (FB)

Day Seven: The Batwa Trail- experiencing the last of the Pygmies

After breakfast, explore the Uganda Batwa trail. Experience the life of the Pygmies, the African people similar to the stone ages. They take you through the Pygmies ways of life, hunting, food gathering, cooking, medicines, games and fighting. Return for late lunch and afternoon relaxation.

Day Eight: From Kisoro to Kampala, crossing the Equator 430 km

Start off the long journey early and transfer leisurely to Kampala. Stop at the Equator en route for photos and late lunch. You will reach Kampala in the afternoon.

Overnight: The Golf Course Hotel (FB) or the Serena Hotel (FB)

Day Nine: From Kampala to White water Rafting 80km 2hrs

Early breakfast and transfer east near the source of the river Nile. Enjoy all day rafting with lunch by the river Nile. Return to Kampala to relax. Enjoy swimming or take a walk around the city (nearby places include the national theatre, parliament, golf course, and two shopping malls).

Overnight: The Golf Course Hotel (FB) or the Serena Hotel (FB)

Day Ten: From Kampala to Entebbe 40 km, 1 hr

Relax at the Hotel and in the late morning, you will be transferred to the Entebbe airport for your departure flight.
