After breakfast, we start with a briefing of what to expect in the park. Soon, we enter the forest to look for the chimpanzees. However, the walk along the trails is at your own pace and in the company of local guides. Naturally, the guides explain the life of the chimps in relation to the forest. Primates here include the grey Mangabeys, the olive Baboons, red-tailed Monkey, red colobus along with the black and white Colobus. Other animals such as Duikers and forest elephants live here too. Finally, we meet the chimps in the trees or playing on the ground. As the most important activity of the day, the experience is amazing. At last, we return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, we can have another walk in the Bigodi swamp for birds and monkeys. The swamp is close by the forest.
Overnight stay: Chimpanzee Guest House (FB) or the Primate Lodge (FB)
Day 4: Kibale Forest to Queen Elizabeth 160 km, 4 hours
This morning, we wake up to a hearty breakfast and views of the surrounding forest. We then drive southwards through the African homesteads. Along the way, we see the picturesque crater lakes and hilly landscapes. Interestingly, we make a stop at the Equator for photos as we stand in the middle of the world. Shortly after, we enter Queen Elizabeth national park. We check in at the lodge and relax for lunch. The sights of the wilderness with mountains in the background is indeed worth it. In the afternoon, we relax at the lodge. Alternatively, we can do a game drive as the sunsets over the Savannah.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth game drives and boat trip
We start the day looking for animals around the Kasenyi plains. Here, you get to see Africa’s animals such as the lions, hyenas as well as the elephants. Furthermore, we may visit the nearby salt lake and see the local ways of mining salt. Later, we return to the lodge for lunch and to relax. We then move to the Kazinga channel for the boat cruise. As a matter of fact, this channel is a natural water way that connects two large lakes namely; Edward and George. The boat cruise sails really close to animals that come to the channel. Animals like buffaloes, elephants and forest hogs stay on the banks while crocodiles sun bathe. The hippos remain in the water until dusk. There are many colorful bird species. The boat trip ends down at lake Edward with views of the mountains of Congo in a distance.
Overnight stay: Kasenyi Safari Camp (FB) or the Mweya safari Lodge (FB).
Day 6: Ishasha wilderness and tree lions 100 km, 3 hours
Today, we drive across the Kazinga channel and further southwards through the park to Ishasha. Towards the evening, we enjoy a game drive as we search for the rare tree climbing lions. Here, there are prides of lions that climb trees. This is rarely seen in the lion behavior much as they are cats! The other unique animal in Ishasha is the Topi. The Topis have an attractive shining coat of both black and brown. Interestingly, they live in large numbers for their own security against predators. However, they are very fast runners and look funny. The Topis specifically resemble the Tsessebe of South Africa.
Overnight stay: Ishasha Jungle Lodge (FB) or the Ishasha Wilderness Camp (FB)
Day 7: Ishasha to Bwindi Impenetrable Gorilla forest 65 km, 2 hours /150 km, 5 hours
We relax to breakfast and soon drive slowly to Bwindi. We pass through hilly villages with breath taking views. The scenic route is an excellent photo opportunity along the edge of mountainous landscapes. Uniquely, Bwindi Impenetrable is mountanous forest with many wildlife species including gorillas and chimps, forest elephants and also rare birds. The Bwindi forest is one of the only 3 places in the world in particular where you find the endangered Mountain Gorillas!!
Overnight stay: Gorilla Mist Camp (FB) or Mahogany Springs Lodge (FB) on a hill overlooking the gorilla forest.
Day 8: Bwindi Impenetrable forest Gorillas and more primates
First and foremost, we set off to the nearby park office in the morning for registration and briefing. Hereafter, we enter the forest and search for the gorillas. However, the duration of the hike can not be easily estimated. Similarly, the forest trails go through steep valleys and that makes the trekking hard. Sometimes, the gorillas may come near you or even touch you. In fact, the babies may jump on you. However keep calm!!! After the trekking, we return to the lodge to relax. Later you may go for cultural entertainment in the surrounding community. Better still, we can enjoy a sun downer community walk before sun set.
Overnight stay: at Gorilla Mist Camp (FB) or Mahogany Springs Lodge (FB)
Day 9: Bwindi Impenetrable forest to Lake Bunyonyi 110 km, 4 hours
