Day 1: Airport EBB – Arrival at Entebbe

You are warmly received and transferred to the hotel for overnight rest. Overnight stay: Lake Victoria View Guest House (BB) or The Boma (BB)

Day 2: Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park 350 km, 6 hours

After a hearty breakfast, we drive westwards birding to Kibale Forest. The drive passes through upcountry woodlands, cultivated fields and tea plantations. Make a walk around the lodge birding as the sun sets over the forest. Kibale is a spectacular rainforest, with 13 primate species including chimpanzees, L’Hoest monkey, Red colobus and grey cheeked Mangabey. The Park has 355 bird species with the highest number of records of the Green-breasted Pitta and chimps in Uganda.

Day 3: Kibale Forest National Park

On this day, we go on the trails for Chimpanzee trekking. We will see the Chimps playing or feeding in the trees or on the ground. On this walk, the Guides explain the life of the forest and animals. Expect to see various rare and colorful birds like the African Pitta, Crested Guinea fowl, Dusky Long-tailed Cuckoo, Green backed Twinspot, White-winged Warbler, Grey Apalis and White-chinned Prinia.

In the afternoon, we make a nature walk in the Bigodi Swamp. Along the trails, expect to see papyrus endemics such as the Papyrus Gonolek, White-collared Oliveback and White-winged Warbler. Other species you may encounter are African Marsh Harrier, the colorful great Blue Turaco, Grey Parrot, Red-faced Cisticola, Red-headed Malimbe and Yellow-billed Barbet.

It is possible to do the chimpanzee habituation experience and birding to spend the whole day with the primates and birds in the forest (optional). Overnight stay: Kibale Forest Camp (FB) / Primate Lodge (FB)

Day 4: Day Four: Kibale Forest to Queen Elizabeth 160 km, 4 hours

Transfer to the Queen Elizabeth National Park with splendid views of the Mountains of the Moon all the way. We stop at the Equator and stand in two hemispheres at the same time. Enjoy afternoon wildlife safari as the sun sets. This park ranks the best in Uganda in terms of bird diversity with over 600 species recorded. On the game drive, you are likely to see the Black Bee-eater, Harlequin Quails, Martial Eagle, Temminck’s courser, the Yellow-billed Ox-pecker and others. Overnight stay: The Kasenyi Safari Camp (FB) or the Mweya Safari Lodge (FB)

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park, game drives

The day starts with a morning game drive along the tracks of the Kasenyi plains west of the national park. This area is famous for predators such as lions, hyenas, leopards with the antelopes and warthogs as their prey. Return to the lodge for lunch. We then slope down for the boat cruise along the beautiful Kazinga channel that connects two lakes. The boat sails close to animals that stay in the water or come to the channel for a drink. Hippos, buffaloes, elephants, giant forest hogs and crocodiles can be seen. Bird species often seen include the Great white Pelican, African Skimmer, Gray-headed Gull, Pink backed Pelicans, green backed Heron and Three-banded Plover. The cruise ends down by Lake Edward with views of the border-mountains of the Congo. Overnight stay: The Kasenyi Safari Camp (FB) or the Mweya Safari Lodge (FB)

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth N. Park to Ishasha                                                                    

Have a morning game drive and transfer south to the Ishasha sector. Check in at the Lodge for lunch and relax. Later, enjoy a leisure sunset game drive in search of the tree climbing lions. The drive goes up to the river camp. You will see hippos in the river and primates in the surrounding trees. Birds that we may see on this game drive include the African grey Hornbill, Greater Honey-guide, Green winged Pytilia, Scaly throated Honey-guide, Rufous napped Lark, Flappet Lark and many others. Overnight stay: Ishasha Jungle Lodge (FB) or the Ishasha Wilderness Camp (FB)

Day 7: Ishasha to Bwindi national Park (60km 2hrs / 150km 5hrs)

After a sumptuous early breakfast, we drive to Bwindi Impenetrable. On our way we bird as we drive through wooded and beautiful landscapes. Bwindi Impenetrable is a unique montane forest with many wildlife and birds species. Bwindi is one of the 2 places in the world where you find the endangered Mountain Gorillas!! Overnight stay: Gorilla Mist Camp (FB) or the Mahogany Springs Lodge (FB) 

Day 8: Bwindi Impenetrable forest on the trails Gorilla tracking!!!

Early morning set off in the forest, expecting to trekk a family of Gorillas!! You will have an hour with them for an experience that will last a life time. Birds to see along the trails include the African Broadbill, Ashy Flycatcher, Banded Prinia, Black-billed Turaco, Bronze-naped Pigeon, Elliot’s Woodpecker, Chin-spot Batis, Red-throated Alethe, Rwenzori Batis and White-bellied Robin chat. After gorilla trekking, we return to the lodge to relax. It is possible to do a community walk in the afternoon and go birding along the forest edges (optional). Overnight stay: Gorilla Mist Camp (FB) or the Mahogany Springs Lodge (FB)

Day 9: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to Lake Mburo National Park 190km 5hr                 

After breakfast, we bird leisurely through the mountains and cattle countryside to Lake Mburo. The park is mostly woodland harboring beautiful bird species, leopards, hyenas, zebras and the rare topi and Eland antelopes. Hippos and crocodiles are common on the five lakes in the park. In the afternoon, go for a safari drive along the tracks to see the animal and birds. Birding along the tracks yields Tabora Cisticola, Egyptian Geese, Green-backed Woodpecker and Coqui Francolin, Grey-crowned Crane, Red-faced Barbet. Return to the Lodge to relax with views of the park below. Overnight stay: Rwakobo Rock (FB) or the Mihingo Lodge (FB)

Day 10: Lake Mburo to Kampala or Entebbe

After a sumptuous breakfast, have a game walk in the park to see birds and animals in close proximity. It is a thrilling moment if you have never encountered wildlife on foot. We then transfer to Entebbe for your departure flight with a lunch break at the Equator crossing. END.
