Day 1: Airport EBB – Arrival at Entebbe

Firstly, you are warmly received. And accordingly transferred to the hotel for the overnight rest.

Overnight stay at: Lake Victoria View Guest House (BB) or The Boma (BB)

Day 2: From Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park (350km, 6 hrs)

After your breakfast, you are picked up from the hotel. We then drive westwards through the green hills with local farms and tea plantations to Fort Portal town. Here, have a stop for a lunch buffet of local food or a La Carte as you enjoy views of the Rwenzori mountains. We then transfer to the lodge and relax to sights and sounds of the forest. Finally as night falls, we enter the forest to see the illusive nocturnal primates like bush babies (optional). Kibale national park is a huge protected tropical rain forest with a significantly high number of primates in Africa.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Swamp

After an early breakfast, you start with a briefing of the activity and what to expect in the park. Then, enter the forest for the chimpanzee tracking. Walking at your own pace along the trails is easy in the company of excellent local guides. The guides especially explain the life of the chimps, tree species, birds and other mammals that live in the forest.

You see primates such as the Olive Baboons, Mangabeys,  L’ hoerst Monkey, red-tailed Monkey,red and black-White Colobus. Subsequently, the highlight is meeting the chimpanzees. Uniquely, they associate in the trees or on the ground. Return to your accommodation for lunch and relax. In the afternoon, take another walk for more primates in the nearby Bigodi community swamp. Generally, the swamp shares a similar ecosystem with Kibale forest.

Day 4: Kibale forest to Queen Elizabeth National Park through crater lakes (130km, 4 hrs)

Wake up to a hearty breakfast and likewise, views of the forest. We drive southwards through the villages and crater lakes area. Briefly, we have a stop at the Equator for the African sun experience. And then enter Queen Elizabeth national park. Queen Elizabeth national Park has open savannah, rain forests and craters. Eventually, check in at the lodge and relax for lunch to sounds and sights of the wilderness. In the afternoon, we do a relaxing nature walk in the Maramagambo jungle. This area is known for its wild chimpanzees, monkeys and bat caves that have huge snakes. Thereafter, have dinner and relax.

Overnight stay: The Enganzi Lodge (FB) or the Katara Lodge (FB)

Day 5: Enter the Kyambura Gorge in the Rift Valley

Enjoy early cup of coffee or tea, we then transfer to Kyambura. After the briefing, enter the forested gorge to track the chimpanzee and other primates that reside here. The encounter with chimps socializing on the ground or quietly feeding in the trees is an unforgettable experience. Return to the lodge and relax, Or even still, have a sunset game drive. Have dinner and a cozy night.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi 155 km / 200 km 5 hours

Wake up leisurely to a sumptuous breakfast. We then drive to Bwindi Impenetrable forest. This is the only forest in the world where gorillas and chimpanzees live together. On our way we pass through hilly villages with beautiful landscapes and mountains of breath taking views. Bwindi Impenetrable is a unique montane forest, with many wildlife species and birds. This jungle is one of the 2 places in the world where you find the endangered Mountain Gorillas!!

Day 7: On the trails Gorilla tracking in Bwindi!!!

Early morning, we set off to the forest. The walk up and down the trails may seem challenging. But the eventual highlight is the encounter with a family of the Gorillas!! You will have an hour with them for an experience that will definitely last a lifetime. You may also see other animals of the park like the forest elephant and duikers as well as beautiful birds.

Day 8: Bwindi Impenetrable forest to Entebbe about 8 hours

Early morning after a heavy breakfast, transfer leisurely through the countryside by road to Entebbe. We cross the Equator along the way. It is possible to use a domestic flight to Entebbe (optional).

Day 9: Entebbe to Ngamba Island Sanctuary 23km 45 min

After a leisurely breakfast and relaxing, we get on the mid morning boat across Lake Victoria to the Ngamba Island. The forested sanctuary is the home to orphaned chimpanzees. These are normally confiscated from the illegal trade in endangered wildlife. In fact, some of the rescued chimps including babies are believed to be from as far as Congo. We tour the Island and clearly observe the afternoon feeding of the infant Chimps. As the sun sets, we also see the adults returning from the forest.

Overnight stay at: Ngamba Islanda Tented Camp (FB)

Day 10: Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary to Entebbe 23km 45 min

To begin with, you wake up to the sounds of the chimpanzees and the waves of lake Victoria below. Then, we see the morning feeding of the whole chimpanzee family. The adult chimps set off to the forest while the young ones remain behind wailing. Hereafter, relax and have breakfast. Around mid morning, we catch the boat again across the lake back to the mainland. Finally, transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
